SUMMARY:Putney Ski Club Race at Prospect Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Quick note: Race fees get racers warmup\, racing\, and warm-down skiing at Prospect. Anyone not racing or wishing to ski on the trails will need a Prospect pass of some variety. Thanks so much to them for grooming\, hosting\, and making snow so we can do this!! \nFreestyle Sprints!\nTwo version of the description:\nVersion #1: I’m not completely sure who Jessie Diggins is\n10-10:30am Zoom around the course time: Everyone who is racing zooms around the course as fast as they can and gets timed. They start whenever they are ready. This part is just a race against the clock. \n10:35am Lollipop “race” : Anyone* who wants to go in a non-competitive fun ski around a short course\, with or without a bib\, will get a sweet treat at the end. \n*mostly intended for kids who have never raced before\, and little kids \n~10:45 “Heats”: Skiers will be arranged in groups (heats) of six based on their qualifying times. Each set of six racers races around the course. It will be fun and close racing since all of the people in each group will be a similar speed. \nAfter everyone has gone in a heat\, each skier can drop out or keep racing (make sure to turn in your bib if you’re done!). The next set of heats will get shuffled around using “math” and “rules” so that the heats are more fun. We’ll do three more sets of heats\, or stop when everyone is done racing. \nVersion #2: Ben’s backflip off the podium was awesome! \n10-10:30am – Qualifier window . You can qualify any time during that window (just remember going at 10:29 won’t make you any faster!) \n10:35 Lollipop race  – for all lollipop skiers and anyone who is new to skiing this year. \n10:45 Heats Start : Four rounds of instant-runoff style heats (monarchically known as king’s/queen’s court style): \nFirst round seeded by qualifying time \nSubsequent rounds: If you finish in the top two places of your heat you move to the next faster heat in the next round. Bottom two\, you move to the next slower heat. We’ll run the heats as efficiently as we can to keep everyone warm – don’t wander off to far! \nIf you’re done racing for the day\, to turn in your bib right after your race so we can fill up all of the heats. As a general guideline: grades K/1/2 might want to do 1 heat\, grades 3/4 do two\, etc. but completely up to the racers. \nPrizes will be awarded by carefully calculated multidimensional modal analysis\, or we’ll throw a bunch of ribbons into the crowd (depends on how cold our fingers are at that point). \nRace Map: \n \n

SUMMARY:Washington’s Birthday Race
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE HOSTING THIS RACE!!!! \nAn exciting addition to the 2023 Popular calendar – Putney and Marlboro Ski Club partner to bring back the historic Washington’s Birthday Race. Organizers are committed to the roots of the event\, a mass-start citizen race for all comers\, with a separate event for the kids too little to ski the full course. The event will run regardless of the weather or the snow conditions. Only rules are the standard rules of ski racing – you have to do it with skis. Might be bare ground though. Of course\, we’ll make kick-ass skiing if there is a possibility of doing it. \n1972 Race Footage\n\nNENSA is really enthused by this attitude towards racing\, which highlights recreational opportunities for all comers! \nThis year the event will be held in Marlboro\, Vermont. In the future the venue will move around. The event will be scored to NENSA’s Club Cup. \n12k and 2k “lollypop” race. All distances approximate. \nREGISTRATION
