SUMMARY:Craftsbury Marathon Ski Festival
DESCRIPTION:Craftsbury is excited to bring back the Marathon Ski Festival in-person in 2023 after the unfortunate cancellation last winter. This years proposed courses will use a 25km loop\, allowing for 25km and 50km classic options on Saturday 1/28 and a 25km freestyle option on Sunday 1/29 (skiing the course in the opposite direction). \nREGISTRATION \nThe Craftsbury Marathon often boasts the largest citizen race turnout of the winter. \nPrizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of each gender in each category\, as well as the male and female winners of each age class. For Zak Cup racers\, this year’s 50km classic will be the Zak Cup points race for racers in the M1-M6 age classes. M7 and up will be scored in the 25km classic. All 25/50km events will be scored to Club Cup. \n2023 will also see the return of the Brodhead Challenge\, named in honor of Marathon founder and longtime Director of Skiing at the Outdoor Center\, John Brodhead. Brodhead Challenge competitors are those who race both the 50k classic and 25k skate\, with the fastest man and woman getting their names emblazoned on the Brodhead Challenge trophy hanging in our touring center. \nWhether you choose to compete or to volunteer\, the marathon is an event with something for everyone! \nEVENT ORGANIZER: ollie.burruss@craftsbury.com

SUMMARY:Women's XC Ski Day
DESCRIPTION:New England Women’s XC Ski Day was started in 2002 by former Olympian Trina Hosmer of Stowe\, VT. Trina was inspired by her “Sisters in Skiing” in Anchorage\, Alaska\, who started the Alaska Ski for Women in 1997. Like the Alaskans’ original event\, Women’s XC Ski Day chooses a non-profit women’s organization to benefit\, and gathers as many participants as it can for a day of cross country skiing which includes lunch and a raffle. The highlight of the day is learn-to-ski clinics with women instructors; the emphasis being on relaxed\, fun learning in a supportive and encouraging environment. All ability\, skill\, and experience levels are welcome. In addition to this event being open to all women\, we also encourage and support the participation of nonbinary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experience of women. NENSA hopes that Women’s Day helps bring more folx together to enjoy this wonderful sport. \nThe 2023 event will be held at JacksonXC in Jackson\, NH. Event page HERE.

DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION Opens December 1st \n“The Bogburn is a classic race unlike any other. The course is narrow\, only one classic track wide\, and the trail is winding and convoluted.” Adam Glueck circa 2017. \nNew England skiers flock to Pomfret\, Vermont every winter for a classic ski race that cites historical winners since 1986. The Haydock’s welcome the community to their property to highlight their love of classic skiing in a low-key and super friendly environment. Despite mother natures whims the event goes on and is a favorite for old school skiers and up and coming rippers alike.
