The Putney Ski club is an all-volunteer organization. Thanks to our amazing coaches, as well as the time and participation of countless parents. Below you will find a few of our coaches, but it takes a village.
Sam Quintal grew up in Fairbanks Alaska skiing all the time. Then he spent almost 20 years living in drearily warm places without enough snow to ski (though having a blast playing viola in a string quartet). He was very excited to dive back into skiing and bring his two daughters along for the ride! In addition to coaching, Sam answers the phones and emails at PSC headquarters and is one of the Southern Vermont Coordinators Email: sam@putneyskiclub.org, Cell: 440-506-4991
Mark Tarmy is a long-time ski PSC coach, and is famous for the gummy bears he always seems to have in his pocket. One of the longest serving coaches of the Putney BKL League, Mark’s children have now grown up, moved away, moved back and are anxious to start their own kids skiing!
Zach Caldwell is an internationally recognized expert in cross country ski preparation and waxing, as well as a world-class coach. He is committed to fostering competitive and recreational skiing in Putney. He is the owner of West Hill Shop and Caldwell Sport, yet still finds time to coach some of the BKL kids one in a while and lend his immense expertise to the team.
Anna Olivier grew up in Putney, although she missed out on cross country skiing in her childhood, preferring the gravity dependent form of the sport. She has extensive experience in cycling and rowing and she is an enthusiastic adopter of skinny skis as an adult. Anna is also a family nurse practitioner in Putney.
