We usually practice at one of a few locations, although we will go wherever we can find snow (within reason). See below if you need to know where to go!
The Putney School (TPS) – Located on Houghton Brook Rd just off of West Hill Rd, the Putney School offers an extensive network of ski trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. With long loops through the woods, and a big sloping field to play in, it is an incredible skisource (you see what I did there) for Putney skiers. We are very grateful to the Putney School for supporting this community activity. Park in the parking area about 100 yards up the Putney School Driveway off of Houghton Brook Rd, the trailhead is on the road across from the driveway.
Dusty Ridge – We will also hold practices on Dusty Ridge enabled by the generosity of private landowners – more details on parking locations and directions will be provided via email.
The Grammar School (TGS) – located on Hickory Ridge Rd, the Grammar School grooms trails in the soccer field across the road. Great for beginning skiers and big skiing games, the field also offers some big hills with no trees to collide with. Please park at the lower Grammar School lot up hill from the road and then walk down to the field. Use caution crossing the road as the sight-lines are not great at that spot.
Sand Hill Road Pond. Parking at marker on map, pond is across the road. Sometimes good location for ice-skating – (ask someone if you’re not sure about ice thickness). Also possible to use for skiing in certain snow low-snow conditions.
